Room in Roof Insulation

Room in roof insulation is a unique type of insulation system that is designed specifically for properties with rooms set into the roof space. it is a very different product and involves a very different installation process.

A room in roof is typically (but not always) a bungalow which has had a loft conversion that is accessed from a fixed staircase, but it can also be an original building feature at the top of properties. Normally a room in roof will have sloping ceilings, and dormer or sloping style windows such as a veluxe or similar window at the upper floor.

A room in roof can have multiple different heat loss elements including sloped ceilings, stud walls, dormer and gable walls and a flat ceiling; and by insulating all of these elements properly a thermal barrier is created that prevents heat from escaping.

County has experience of working on these types of projects and can survey the home to identify the key areas that need insulating. The method we offer for most homes, involves securing specialist insulation board to your stud walls, slopes and ceilings of your room in roof. We use Rockwool, SWIP and Knauf products and systems.

We can also install loft wool insulation into the residual space behind the stud walls and where possible, onto the back of the stud walls, secured in place with insulation netting. We use insulated plasterboard to the sloping roof area to provide those key area`s with additional insulation and aim to achieve 0.018 u value.

These types of projects do not take long and In a couple of days your loft or attic room will be insulated, with minimal disruption, providing you with an additional comfortable living space.
